Notion is capable of monitoring many different functions all at the same time without the added complexity of different sensors for different functions. One function that is easily forgettable is the option to monitor the temperature of a specific space.
Often our users add the temperature task to a sensor as a secondary task. Perhaps the sensor is primarily dedicated to detecting water leaks or a sounding alarm, but the sensor can detect temperature in addition to these other functions. This is helpful when the temperature can potentially alert you of other local issues.
The temperature task can be a great way to check on the health of your HVAC system in everyday life. If you want to install Notion at your vacation home, the temperature task can make sure things don't get too cold so that your pipes don't burst. Or if you are worried about an old AC unit in the summertime, Notion can warn you that your house is warming up before you even get home. Or if you know that one room in your house is always colder than the rest, you could use data from Notion to adjust the temperature on your smart thermostat so your whole house stays comfortable.
The best part about all of this is that each Notion Sensor can add the temperature task on top of a door task, sounding alarm task, or a leak task. This means you don't need to compromise on your primary goal for your Notion system to add the temperature functionality.
We do not recommend installing a sensor inside of a refrigerator or freezer. The metal doors are enough to block the signal between the sensor and the bridge.
