My Sensor Fell

The team at Notion has spent many hours perfecting the adhesive backing on Notion sensors to avoid this situation. Unfortunately, sometimes a sensor might still fall and get damaged in the process. Or at the very least the sensor will need to be recalibrated after it's reinstalled. Here's how to check your sensor and get it back online.

Checking your sensor for damage

Notion sensors are built to be durable and generally they can withstand a drop from about the height of the average door, but sometimes they can be damaged in a fall.

1. First, open your sensor with a counterclockwise twist.
2. Check to make sure the battery holder is still attached to the circuit board.
3. Then try removing and replacing the battery to make sure the sensor can still connect to your bridge.
4. The sensor should blink blue and then eventually green. Once you see the green LED, then you're in business!

Checking the adhesive

Either it wasn't sticky enough, or your sensor was stuck to a rough surface, or maybe the sensor was just installed in one spot for a very long time and the adhesive degraded. Whatever the reason, you probably will want to replace the adhesive. Simply remove the original adhesive and stick a new one on.

Reinstalling the sensor

If the sensor was able to connect to your bridge, you can simply stick the sensor back where you had it. You don't need to re-scan the QR code, but you will need to reinstall the task to recalibrate it. Click here for instructions on how to delete and add a task.
