When the primary reason for installing Notion is awareness about the entrances to your home, make sure you think about your windows in addition to your doors. For the teenager trying to sneak home after curfew or the burglar trying to steal your things, a window is as much a viable option as the front door. Notion is a great solution because the same sensor that goes on your door is also capable of monitoring your window.
To set up a window sensor, open the Notion app, navigate to the system tab, select sensors, and then “Add Sensor”. Follow the set-up prompts. When it's time, simply stick the sensor to your window, calibrate the sensor, and set up your notification preferences. The app will ask what type of window you have in the set up process so your sensor can know what motion to look for.
If you would like to know when your sliding window is opened or closed, you will need to add a sliding door/window accessory to the sensor. Follow the link here for more information on the sliding door/window accessory.
If you don't have the accessory, the sensor can't know if the window is actually open or closed. The sensor uses an accelerometer to check when the sensor is moving, but the hardware is not capable of remembering the location for the closed position.
