In the design process of Notion sensors, we considered all the harsh elements and extreme conditions that a sensor may be subject to if installed outdoors. Sensors are resistant the the elements, but their performance may be affected if exposed.
Water Resistance
Gen 2 sensors carry an IP67 waterproof rating. However, if a sensor does get fully submerged in water, the signal strength will be severely impacted and the sensor could likely disconnect from your bridge. This would occur with any wireless device.

Temperature Resistance
Notion Sensors are rated from 0° F up to 175° F (-17 C to 80 C). At colder temperatures, the battery life of the sensor will be negatively affected like any other battery powered system would be.
Other Considerations
In addition to water and temperature variations, the sensor is resistant to dust and UV light.
Also, the exterior wall of your house may interfere with the radio signal between your bridge and any sensors that are installed outside. Click here for more information on wireless signal interference.
