You can absolutely take the system with you when you move. The Notion Smart Security system is attached to your account, so it will follow you wherever you go. Start by ordering your free moving kit from our online store.
To move the system, simply unplug the bridge and remove the sensors. However, removing those sensors can be a bit tricky.
We use 3M Command Adhesive for our sensors, so you should be able to remove it without wear and tear to your home. This also makes it easy to reinstall those sensors! Below, we’ve included some tips and tricks to get you back up to speed.
Sensor Removal Tips:
- First, we suggest removing the white sensor body, that might make it easier for you - just twist the white sensor body counterclockwise to remove it from the gray base plate.
- The weakest point for the adhesive is directly under the LED light on the sensor, or under the two brass dots on the baseplate.
- Insert a flat, dull tool or blade, like a paintscraper, between the adhesive and the surface. Work the blade beneath the sensor and gently pry it up from the surface where it’s been applied.
- A hair-dryer can also help you remove the sensor. The heat will help break down the adhesive backing and make it easier to pry it off of the surface.
Once you’ve removed the sensor, you’ll need to decide what you’d like to do with it. Do you want to keep the same task, but just want to change locations? Or do you want to completely change the task and location?
If you’re only changing the location of the sensor and keeping the same task on it, all you need to do is move the sensor. Once it’s been placed, it will report normally as it did before.
Otherwise, if you’re completely changing what the Notion Sensor does, it will be best to delete the sensor from your system.
